Bleeding Hearts #2 picks up right after that brutal cliffhanger from #1 and switches perspectives to the woman and her daughter we saw at the end of issue #1.
Deniz Camp is still cooking with gas — this one is a 4.5/5 for me.

The Setup
The mom and daughter wake up confused in what looks like a school with no idea how they got there. We get flashbacks to their history and bits and pieces of how they ended up in this mess. The big emotional hook? They’re missing the little girl’s most important stuffed animal — the only connection she has left to someone special. The mom and daughter put on a tough face for each other, but you can feel how much it hurts.

The Cool (and Brutal) Parts
This issue really shows the grim reality of the world: humans are basically extinct, so don’t get too attached to anyone because they won’t be around long. We see parents sacrificing themselves to distract zombies so their kids can escape, people desperately trying to keep babies quiet so they don’t get found — it’s heavy stuff. That said, it also shows how all of the darkness makes the tiny beautiful moments of life feel even more special.
We also get more interaction with the original protagonists from issue #1, and the whole “bleeding hearts” theme (both literal and emotional) stays strong.
Final Verdict
This issue is a perfect follow-up that dives deeper into the human side of the zombie apocalypse. The highs, the lows, and the heartbreak all hit perfectly. I can’t wait for #3 — Deniz Camp is on an absolute roll right now.
What did you think?
Did Bleeding Hearts #2 live up to the hype for you? What was your favorite heartbreaking moment or silver lining?
