How much is Absolute Batman #1 worth? My Cover A first print is about $348 raw (PriceCharting, Oct 20, 2026). That’s 69.8x its $4.99 cover, and it tops my Nest Egg Index. The Index is every modern #1 I’ve pulled since October 2024, ranked by how far each one has gone up over its cover price. I track the whole stack, and this page shows the top 10.

How the ranking works
- Each book’s value is its PriceCharting ungraded (raw) value, divided by the cover price. That multiple sets the rank, and I show the dollar value next to it. When PriceCharting doesn’t have a solid number, I set the value myself and mark it with *.
- Only Cover A first prints that I bought count. If I have a signed or slabbed copy, the rank still uses the raw, unsigned Cover A value.
- Ongoing series, limited series, one-shots, and specials all count. Reprint editions don’t.
- Release is the month the book went on sale, not the cover date.
- Books worth under about $15 are shown as a range.

My top 10 new #1s since October 2024, book by book
If I don’t list what I paid, I picked it up at or near cover price, sometimes with my local shop’s pull list discount.
1. Absolute Batman #1
Came out in October 2024 at $4.99. A raw Cover A first print is worth about $348 now, 69.8x cover. Later printings and variants sell for different prices.
Why it’s up: it was already climbing, and the announcement of an animated Absolute Batman pushed it even higher.
My pickup: I paid $38.60 in July 2025. I didn’t have a first print, and I looked at this one in my local comic shop for a few weeks before I picked it up. At the time I hoped that wasn’t too high, which seems funny now.

2. DC All In Special #1
Came out in October 2024 at $4.99 and is worth about $118 now, 23.6x cover.
Why it’s up: it’s the first appearance of Absolute Batman, Absolute Superman, and Absolute Wonder Woman. The animated Absolute Batman announcement pushed it up even more.
My pickup: I got this one late, in March 2025, at more or less cover price.
Wondering if you need it before Absolute Batman? I cover that in my Absolute Batman reading order.
3. Absolute Wonder Woman #1
Came out in October 2024 at $4.99 and is worth about $58 now, 11.6x cover.
My pickup: I paid $32 at Heroes Con in June 2026. I didn’t have the first print Cover A yet, and I got it signed by Hayden Sherman right away. While I was there, I also picked up the last Absolute Cover A first prints I was missing, to round out the collection up to that point.
Read more about my signing experiences at Heroes Con.
4. Absolute Superman #1
Came out in November 2024 at $4.99 and is worth about $35 now, 7.0x cover.
My pickup: My first Cover A first print was a slabbed 9.8. I picked up a raw copy for $9.64 in January 2026.
Read my Absolute Superman #1 review.
5. Absolute Martian Manhunter #1
Came out in March 2025 at $4.99 and is worth about $29 now, 5.8x cover.
My take: A wild and colorful new spin on Martian Manhunter made it an instant fan favorite.
6. Absolute Batman 2025 Annual #1
Came out in October 2025 at $5.99 and is worth about $35 now, 5.8x cover.
My take: Not required for the main Absolute Batman run. It’s best after #14. Later is fine; it just won’t feel as tied to what you’re reading. Climbing for the same reasons other Absolute Batman titles on this list are.
See where it fits in my Absolute Batman reading order.
7. Absolute Evil #1
Came out in October 2025 at $5.99 and is worth about $26 now, 4.3x cover.
My take: A fantastic one-shot. It gives context for the whole Absolute Universe and sets up Absolute Green Arrow.
Read my Absolute Evil #1 review.
8. Invincible Universe: Battle Beast #1
Came out in May 2025 at $3.99 and is worth $10–15 now, 3.7x cover.
My take: A new Invincible Universe book? Betting on Robert Kirkman? Heck yeah, I’m in. I actually have a lot of Battle Beast: variants, signed copies, blind bags, and more.
9. Absolute Batman: Ark M Special #1
Came out in January 2026 at $4.99 and is worth $10–15 now, 2.8x cover.
My take: A must-read one-shot for any Absolute Batman fan. It dives deep into the dark origins of Arkham Asylum, and it really adds depth to the Arkham lore.
My copies: I got one signed by Frank Tieri at Heroes Con. I sent my other copy to CGC, and it came back a 9.8.

10. Supergirl #1 (2025)
Came out in May 2025 at $3.99 and is worth $10–15* now, 2.8x cover.
My take: It seemed like a good bet with the movie coming out at the time, and my daughter enjoyed the series for a while.
New #1s this month: worth anything yet?
These are the #1s I picked up in October 2026. Marvel cleared the day to launch its new Midnight line with only three books, maybe as an answer to DC’s Absolute line. Short answer on value: not yet. All are within about 1.5x cover for now. I’ll check back next month to see if any of them go up. If you’re deciding between the Midnight books, here’s which Midnight book I’d start with.
| Book | Release | Cover price | Value | Multiple |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Midnight Fantastic Four #1 | Oct 2026 | $5.99 | $5–10 | 1.0x |
| Midnight Spider-Man #1 | Oct 2026 | $5.99 | $5–10 | 1.0x |
| Midnight X-Men #1 | Oct 2026 | $5.99 | $5–10 | 1.0x |
| Amazing Spider-Man: Halloween Special #1 | Oct 2026 | $4.99 | $5–10 | 1.5x |
| Batman: Bad Seeds Sunrise #1 | Oct 2026 | $5.99 | $5–10* | 1.0x |
| DC All In Saga: Darkseid vs The World #1 | Oct 2026 | $5.99 | $5–10* | 1.0x |
| Justice League: The Dark Realm Special #1 | Oct 2026 | $5.99 | $5–10* | 1.0x |
Midnight Fantastic Four #1
Came out in October 2026 at $5.99 and is sitting at $5–10, right around cover price.
My take: Lovecraftian horror.
Midnight Spider-Man #1
Came out in October 2026 at $5.99 and is sitting at $5–10, right around cover price.
My take: A straightforward body horror.
Midnight X-Men #1
Came out in October 2026 at $5.99 and is sitting at $5–10, right around cover price.
My take: This is the Hickman world-building one, with humans, mutants, vampires, and mutant vampires. If I could only pick one Midnight book, this is my bet.
Amazing Spider-Man: Halloween Special #1
Came out in October 2026 at $4.99 and is worth $5–10 now, 1.5x cover.
Fell off the list
None. October 2026 is month one, so the fell-off list starts in November.
FAQ: Absolute Batman #1 value and new #1s
How much is Absolute Batman #1 worth right now?
My Cover A first print is about $348 raw on PriceCharting as of October 20, 2026. That’s 69.8x the $4.99 cover. Later printings, variants, and graded copies sell for different prices, so check which version you have. I update this number every month.
Will Absolute Batman #1 keep going up?
Not forever, but I don’t think it has hit the top yet either. This page records where it sits each month, so you can watch the trend.
Why is DC All In Special #1 worth more than most new #1s?
It’s the first appearance of Absolute Batman, Absolute Superman, and Absolute Wonder Woman, and the animated Absolute Batman announcement pushed it up even more. Mine is at $118, 23.6x cover.
Are new comics worth anything?
Most aren’t, at least not right away. My October 2026 #1s are all sitting around cover price. That’s why I rank by multiple of cover. It shows which modern #1s actually went up, not just which ones cost the most.
Do you buy comics as investments?
Sometimes, yes. I buy books for lots of different reasons. Some I want to read. Some I collect to complete a series or connecting art. Some I collect for the cover artist. And yes, some I pick because I think they’ll be worth more one day. It’s a bonus when a book does more than one.
Updated monthly: what’s next
I’ll update the Index every month: new values, new #1s, and anything that drops out. Each update adds another month, so over time this page becomes a price history for every book on the list. If you’re here for the book at the top, my Absolute Batman reading order covers where to start.
